Sheneneh waxed the counter down and dried it with another rag. She pushed her long black hair out of her face and looked up at the bar. It had taken her lots of time and money to establish this bar. She sighed and smiled. She was in her normal attire: long, ruffled orange shirt, dark navy blue pants and tall orange stiletto heels.
She dried a few glasses and set them on the counter behind her. It was the start of the new day and Sheneneh hoped for customers.

Haldis stood outside the bar. With one hand, he scratched at a scar on his cheek, and with the other he held a small black phone to his ear. "You've reached Gersemi Duke," chimed a low but feminine voice, "Sorry i missed you're call. Please leave a brief message after the beep. *BEEEEEEEEEP*" "Um...Hey, Ger, it's Hal," Haldis began. He hated leaving messages; He always sounded so awkward. "I'm calling you about the Navalen job: It was a bust. He gave the job to somebody else... Soooooo......Yeah, don't come out to meet me. I'll be back in the Wastes soon. If you talk to mom, tell her I'm eating well, and work is good. you're better at lying than I am." He hung up and cursed himself. Work was hard to find these days for a mercenary. Unless a war broke out soon, he'll be begging for food. At least he could afford a drink or two before he headed home. He put his phone in the pocket of his vest, and entered the bar.

Sheneneh heard the door open. She stiffened up and smiled. "Hiya, I'm Sheneneh...what can I get for ya?" She asked, giving the man a friendly smile. She smoothed her acrylic nails and reached for a shot glass.

Rebbecca stomped through the streets of Navalen in a horrible mood. She saw Sheneneh's bar and sighed. She might as well get drunk. She pushed open the door of the bar and bumped into a man. "Oh my gosh, I am so so sorry." She stuttered to the man, putting her hands up defensively. She pushed her bangs out of her eyes and sat down at the bar. "Hey, Sheneneh. I don't care what you get me...jsut make it cheap and strong."

Gwenette sauntered through the streets of Navalen. The sun was just rising over the tall buildings of the city. Gwenette thought it be nice to come on land for a bit. She walked and felt the cool breeze on her skin. It felt weird. She wasn't used to weather being a mermaid.
She saw a bar and walked into it. The bar was colorful and inviting. Gwenette smiled at the barmaid and sat down on a stool. "Hi, a Bloody Mary, please." she ordered.

"Oh, it's fine," Haldis said to the girl who bumped him. He sat down at the bar himself. He was happy to see two fine ladies at the bar tonight. "Sheneneh is it? I'll take a cheap ale."

"Damn, Rebbecca," Sheneneh said. "Who pissed you off?" She wondered because usually she had a happy attitude. "I could give you a Scotch on the rocks." Sheneneh shrugged.
She heard the other orders and made their drinks. "Bloody Mary." She said, sliding it down the counter to the other woman. "Cheap ale." She slid it down to the man. "And Scotch on the rocks." She handed it to Rebbecca and gave a small smile.
Sheneneh sighed and leaned on the counter behind her. "HI, I'm Sheneneh Jenkins." She said, showing a smile, and shaking the man's hand and the other woman's hand.

"You don't wanna know, Sheneneh." Rebbecca sighed and rested her head on the counter. Her artifact hunting hadn't gone well and she had pretty much totaled her dune buggy and was afraid Xander wasn't going to fix it again. She sighed and took the cup from Sheneneh. "Thanks." She whispered.
She chugged her Scotch as she heard Sheneneh talking to the other customers. She looked at both of them and turned back to her drink. She would be more than friendly to them if she was in a better mood...but she was just to pissed off right now.

"Gwenette Rosemary." She smiled as she grasped the Bloody Mary. "You can just call me Gwen." She shrugged. She moved the celery around the cup and took a sip of the drink.
Gwen set five marks on the counter and slid them over to Sheneneh. She didn't mind what it cost. "Keep the change." She nodded and smiled. She took another sip of her Bloody Mary and smoothed her skirt over.

Misty stepped down from her zoomer in front of Sheneneh's Place. The local bar she usually goes to in the morning. Roxy was on her shoulder. and as she rested on the side of her building.
She was waiting for a friend and they were going to get a drink together before they both had to work. his name was Tray, pretty good friends, nice guy.
She looked at her watch. "Damn, when is he gonna get here?" She asked Roxy.

Roxy rested against the building, standing on Misty's shoulder. "I don't know, but he better get here fast. We have work." She sighed.
Tray came zooming down the slightly busy streets of Navalen. He looked at his watch and saw that he was late. He finally saw the bar approaching his site. He cam to a stop and smiled at Misty. "Told you I'd get here. I never said i was gonna be on time." He smiled and parked his zoomer.
"yeah, whatever." Roxy laughed. "just get in the bar."
Tray smiled and laughed. He walked into the bar, Misty behind him. They set at the bar. "I'll take a beer."

"Tray, you're always late." Misty laughed. "Don't worry. I'm used to it by now." She followed Tray into the bar and sat down next to him at the bar.
"I'll have a gin and tonic." She nodded. She felt Roxy jump off her shoulder and onto her own seat.

Haldis smiled and shook the barkeeper's hand. "Haldis Duke's the name," he replied. The place was beginning to get busy, and Haldis looked at the faces of the people in the room. He took a long swig of the ale. It was horrible ale, but it was ale none the less. "Busy place you got here."

"Nice to meet ya." She said to the two newcomers. She sauntered over to the other customers and gave them their drinks. A bottle of beer and a gin and tonic.
She walked back over to Haldis and Gwenette, flinging a rag over her shoulder. "yeah, well it's actually nice having this many people in here...business hasn't been goin' so well. You know...all the raids and things. People are afraid to come out of their houses sometimes."

"Yeah." Tray agreed with Sheneneh on the subject about the raids. "The city is on high alert. They're even setting a curfew at night now. And, they're trying to draft some people into the army." Tray took a swig of his beer. "I'm glad i spend most of my time in the Waste."
Roxy rested on the bar stool. She was tall enough to put her elbows and the bar and listen to the conversation. She wasn't one to jump into a conversation. Misty offered her a sip of her gin and tonic. Roxy took a sip, made a smug look as she swallowed, and quickly pushed it back to Misty.
Gwenette was surprised by the conversation. She has never witnessed a raid, having spent most time in the water. She just learned how to use the human potion a few months ago. She wanted to learn more about raids...she hoped they would continue the conversation about them.

Rebbecca quickly became interested in the conversation. She had always been in the fight for Navalen. Having been in a few raids herself. But drafting? She had younger cousins that were a close age to the draft. She didn't want them getting hurt.
"Curfew? Drafting?" Rebbecca smirked. She set her Scotch on the and and rubbed her temples. "First of all, a curfew won't help anything. There hasn't been a night raid in over a thousand years and the second thing us, drafting won't help. The army doe nothing. All the people that fight Zationia are raiders. Not soldiers. The raiders are average Joe's...they have normal jobs and normal lives...just trying to fight for their city. Ridiculous." She whispered. She chugged the rest of her Scotch. "Sheneneh," She called. "I need a refill."

Misty laughed when Roxy tried the gin and tonic. She grasped it back in her hand and took a gulp of it. She listened to the conversation of the raids and the Zationians. It wasn't really Misty's favorite subject. She didn't take either side, being native to the Waste.
She looked at the time on her watch. She bit her lip. She had to be at work in ten minutes. She gulped her last sip and slipped off the stool. "Sorry, gotta go. See ya, Tray. Nice to see you again. Come on, Roxy."
Misty opened the door and stepped out to see a crowd of raiders marching down the streets. Holding up the Zationian symbol on a high held flag. Misty gulped. She grabbed Tray's zoomer and her own and pulled them inside the bar. She slammed the door shut and turned around. "Umm....Sheneneh?" She said, trying to grab the bartender's attention. "If you have an open doors or windows, you might wanna close them." The bartender gave a questioningly look. "There's a raid going on." She said nervously, pointing toward the door.

Sheneneh sighed and threw the rag onto the bar. 'Okay, everyone stay calm. I only have two doors and I know the back one's locked." Sheneneh jumped over the bar and started to lock the ten locks on the front door. She jogged into the back and checked the back door. It was locked up tight. Sheneneh came back and jumped behind the bar. "What a perfect way to start the day." She muttered.

Haldis took another swig and watched the hustle-and-bustle with wide eyes. He was new to these parts, and had no idea about the raids. Thankfully his gun slung on his side was loaded.
"Why draft for the army? Why not just form little local malitia or even hire mercenaries for that matter?" He asked. he knew many other mercenaries desperate for work.

Gwen shook with fear when she heard it was a raid. She bit her lip and closed her eyes telling her not to be afraid. She had her sword in a belt loop of her skirt. Her hand shook as she brought the cup of Bloody Mary up to her lips. She set it down and swiveled on the stool. "So what do you expect us to do?' She asked Sheneneh. "Be trapped in here, as the raiders tear down Navalen and probably break into the bar. I say we get out of here and ran like hell."
Tray went over to Gwen. "You don't wanna be out there." Tray told her grimly. He turned around and looked at the other man. "That's what i thought about the drafting but...there's nothing anybody can do about it. The Council has made up their minds."
Roxy was surprised when she poked her head outside the door. The raid was very unsuspected and Roxy quickly ran back into the bar. She could feel the worried, confused and nervous emotions of the people in the room. They were hurting her.
