The waste's practice track

[Jekut Ghrna/Jak]

Jekut was out on the practice track running the circuit to test his buggy’s suspension and engine. He pulled into the garage he was using and shut of the buggy’s engine. He stepped out his boots thudding in the silence as he went to the tool kit and picked up a wrench. He turned around and immediately tuned the engine tightening this and loosening that and tuning that for maximum performance. He then moved to tighten the suspension before he decided to work on the engine again. He heard footsteps come in over the clicks of the ratchet and did not bother to look up. “Who are you and what do you want” he asked as he worked.

[Evey]

"Dose it matter to you?" Audra said in a crisp voice her boots clicking on the floor. She had her casual cloaths on it was only a practice track, why get it all dirty.

Katrina looked down from the roof of the garage. The day had started off lazy. She thought she could watch some of the racers practice. Her tail twisted. She twitched her ears. She saw Jekut race into the garage. And Audra was walking toward the garage!
Katrina was excited. She was a racing fan. She got to see Jekut and Audra on the same day! What luck? A champion and a rookie.
Katrina always thought it would be cool to be a racer.

Jekut looked up from his work and looked the new comer over. “And who the hell are you then…some fan come to get my autograph…wait…I know you. Ya your that new rookie…well since you’re a fellow racer what can I do fer ya” he said his face changing from not caring to friendliness when he recognized her. “Well what ya need I got spare parts if that’s what ya came fer anyways. As well I can offer ya some tips if ya want them… though you do race pretty damn good If I can say so…reminds me of me when I first started… be careful of sabotage though that nearly threw me out completely” he said to her with a note of warning. He thought back to that day and could still see his parents face before his ride killed them. “Just watch yer back around some of these people though…never tell what they’re gonna do.”

[Evey]

"Thank you for your offers, I'm only here for a quick practice run to start off the day." A small smile came across her face as she talked to Jekut. Champion racer... She thought. Audra was still a bit star struck when she saw the man, who wouldn't be right? Her cloak waved as a small breeze came through the garage sending the smell of oil and exaust to Audra's nose. Home

“Well all right...mind if I join ya need to see if my tunin has done anything to her” he asked as he wiped his hands. He sealed up his buggy before he got in and waited for her answer. His buggy was shiny and not a dinged up as others but that was because he kept her in good shape. He looked the female up and down and admired her natural beauty but left it till he had seen her on the track before labeling her. He liked her hair but he knew he always thought he would never have a love so he kept waiting.

[Evey]

"Sounds like some great fun." There was a competitive grin on her face. Audra walked over her boots clicking as she walked across the cement floor to covered buggy. She ripped off the white cover and smiled.

My little baby... She thought as she hopped in. Her car was nice and shiny, due to the fact Audra babied her buggy, washing and cleaning it after every race. It was painted dark purple and had some dark blue flame decals.

Audra hopped in and turned the key. "I'm ready when you are!" She said as the engine roared to life.

Jekut laughed at her and then turned on his buggy the engine roaring louder then hears and he grinned. She was definitely at her peak performance. The old style was based on the dune runner he had first road and the roll cage reflected that. He pulled on his goggles and closed the door. He had no roof and windows only the roll cage to protect him as well as the armor he wore. He gave her thumbs up and then roared out the garage and heard her follow. He rolled out on the track and took off when he was on listening to his buggy as he went. He could feel the engine and all the mechanical parts working as he reached 100 in 10 seconds.

Katrina saw the two racers race onto the track. She lifted her self off of the roof and hovered over them in the air.
She rested against a boulder, waiting for the racer to come around a sharp turn. Jekut passed her and kicked some sand off with his wheels. But Audra was close behnd him.
Katrina flew off the boulder and followed them deeper into the track.

The hum of the engine music to her ears as Audra sped down the track. She sat forward in her seat concentrating, a competitive look etched on her face. Her cloak and hair whipped behind her as she sped forward.

Audra hugged the turns sticking close to Jekut's buggy. She was trying to find a way to pass, she was searching for a opening but could find none.

Jekut kept the line hard and true never letting her get an opening. He knew the course as well as he knew his shop considering he had built them both. He pushed her lightly not even trying and then they turned in for the final stretch. He gunned his buggy and left her in the dust and slid the buggy to a halt after he had crossed the finish line drifting it 180 degrees. He watched her pull up and signaled to take it in to the garage before taking off toward his. When he pulled in he shut off his buggy and stepped out waiting for her to walk in. “good race thought you had me there for a sec” he said to her as she rounded the corner.

[Evey]

"Ya." Audra said a little disapointed really. Ah, what should I expect when I race agenst a champion? She thought looking at Jekut. "Nice race though." She said extending her hand in a friendly manner.

Jekut shook her hand and smiled warmly at her. “Hey don’t be down I couldn’t help but show off. But ya keep racin like that and you will be more than a challenge for me” he said to her. “Come on ya did good ya should be proud. Besides if yer racin in the upcoming wasteland tourney then me and you could go all the way” he said to her chuckling. “of course I’ll not give ya first without a fight but come on me and you all the way” he said asking her a question in her statement and stuck his fist out in the age old honored tradition of sealing deals. “What ya say you and me all the way. You might want to decide quick because all the other racers do this...this is the first time I have done it.”

Audra smiled warmly back at Jekut honored to hear sutch prase from the man. She couldn't belief that a champion racer was giveing her sutch a deal. She made a fist and knuckle tutch completeing the deal.

" I can't belief that you have never teamed up with anyone before." She said to Jekut a friendly smile on her face. "Its a honor that you chose me to be your first." She said politely.

“Ya well it just means I got your back and ya got mine. As well ill teach ya this course but we got a month before serious practice begins. I’m headin back ta town ya wanna join me for some lunch” he asked her his eyes still covered by his goggles. “It’s on me and I need to finish some work anyways when I get back to my shop” he explained to her as he stepped back onto his buggy and looked at her.

Katrina put her ears to the roof so she could hear the racers conversation. She listened closely.
Jekut was was giving Audra such an opportunity. To team up...with him. Katrina hoped that she would take it. Audra took up his offer. Katrina smiled.
She jumped up and stood on her feet. The race was over and it was time to make some money in the Outlanders City. She hovered in the air for a second then started to fly toward the city.

Audra smiled when Jekut offered to take her out to lunch. "I'll gladly join ya, but I'm gonna be headin out early to meet up with a friend." She said thinking about her mechanic, he had called her on her com-link this morning telling her he had some parts in.
