"Yeah," Octavia nodded. "He can handle his own. I once saw him poke some guys eyes out. Disgusting to watch, but I got my job done quicker." She shrugged as she made her way back to where she was was before. She threw the cigarette on the dusty and dry ground and smashed it with her boot.

Reubens raised his eyebrows in appreciation. "Crikey O'reilley," He said, and then, wanting to ignore the mental image "so could you tell me who you're working for? Or would you have to kill me?" It was meant jovially enough, though he probably should know better than to ask that kind of question lightly.

"I don't work for anybody." Octavia made clear. "I work for myself. Finding jobs is kinda hard, but we I do get 'em, I get paid well. I'm on my way to the Waste right now for a job. Some damn elf." She shrugged. "What about you?" She asked. "Or are you an independent writer?"

"Pretty independant," He said, frowning a little "But, shall we say, personal agendas, help keep that state of affairs. Investigations are a premium here, everything from relatives to vengeance," But what else could he do? There was no call for sheep shearers down here and he had to eat sometime.

Octavia nodded. "You know, there was a huge raid at the Inner City a few days ago, right?" She asked him. "Zationia's Inner City is pretty much destroyed now. Navalin raiders just tore it to bits." Octavia shook her head. She had been rooting for Zationia. Everyone in Navalen was a stuck-up, cocky asshole.

"Has there now?" Said Reubens, eyebrows raised further "I'll need to check that out. Still, if it does come to war, I'm sure Zatonia'll come out on top. I shouldn't worry about that," He didn't say it consolatorily, just as a statement of fact.

Octavia nodded. "Yeah, I guess the monarchs are really damn pissed about it and the army generals are planning like crazy. At least, that's what I heard." She shrugged. She rested against eh rock as she crossed her arms.

Reubens shrugged. "Either way, the Navalen are soldiers of a democracy. They signed up to fight, and hence, won't have half the staying power. The Zatonians don't know when to stop beating the crap outta something," He half-smiled "And anyway, the Navalen tech isn't gonna be much help when the Zats loot it all. Battlefield trophies, and so forth,"

The Zationia wall was quiet today. Jayeson looked around. There were two people there, talking of the war. He went closer, listeing. He was just below them, clining to the wall with his dexterous fingers and toes. This could be interesting. He didnt want a war to break out, but it might. He hung there for a moment. A hawk flew above him, sitting on the wall next to the people. What are you doing here Eshalla He thought to himself.

Octavia opened her mouth to say something until she heard a noise. She looked over her shoulder to see a man and a bird sitting on top the wall. She was about to ask them if they were eavesdropping when she saw Buck dart toward the bird. Buck caught the bird with it's feet and started to fly down toward Octavia.

Reubens stood up, glanced at the bird, but stopped short. "Hullo," He said, a little warily. A blonde-haired man, far too pale to be in any kind of manual labour, dressed in what Reubens though was really impractical, was watching the birds too.

The Bird came towards Eshalla, grabbing her feet. It started to drag her towards the woman, but she made it stopped. Flapping her wings, she started to shift in Mid air. When her feet hit the ground, she was her norml hman looking self. " You know, you shouuld teach your bird more manners. I don't appriciate being dragged around like some common foul." She smiled motioning to Jayeson.
Jayeson sighed and came towards Eshalla. Always like her to show off. " What are you doing here Eshalla? Shouldnt you be at the bar right now?" He asked. He walked forward to the man and woman standing there. " Sorry. I wasnt eavesdropping, just trying to find someone. I head you talking about the war. Ya know,, it mayy go either way when one of the countries gets smart and Hires assasins. The Scorpions might do the killing." He smiled at them, then turned to Eshalla. " You should go home."

Octavia scoffed. "Maybe you shouldn't be lurking by the wall in the middle of the night, shifted as a bird." She hated when people criticized her about Buck. He was just rough natured. Is that so bad?
Octavia turned her attention to the elf as he talked to the shifter. "Yeah, run home or better...go play in incoming traffic" She smiled sarcastically.

"And hey, assassins account for fuck all in war. Leaders are wrong nine times outta ten anyway," Reubens had taken an instant dislike to this guy. Anyone who thought the war could be solved in easily was clearly not worth listening to "And hello to you, too," He continued, adressing the black-haired eagle-girl.

Eshalla looked at the girl. " I have no problem with yur bird Miss. I just don't appreciate you letting him attack me." She said. She looked around. " nd this is when I usually fly patrol. No one else will fly it in the middle of the night." She sighed.
Jayeson looked at the man. He was obviosly unhappy. Still connected to Zara, he could fell the mans feelings. " Its not that I think thi woul be easy in anyway. I'm saying, the scorpions are people you dont want to mess with. I know." He turned his head to the girl. " I wasnt talking to you, so curb your toungue. I dont want to hear spat from some young ill tempered know it all."

Octavia laughed. She looked at the man. "And who said I was talking to you? I was talking to Miss. Bitchy over there, so you can shove your pointy ears up your ass." Octavia's tone became stern and she put her right hand in her back, just in case she needed her sword. She could see Buck circling around her. He didn't like that girl for some reason.

"Ill-tempered know it all, he says?" Retorted Reubens, his first for several weeks "Thank you, I can see this is going to go swimmingly," He would have reached for a weapon, had he had one. Failing that, he held on to his camera tight. Aside from a sock full of assorted currency (debatably a weapon), it was the only thing of value on him, and the second most fragile.

Eshalla watched as both the people tensed. Great. They think we're going to attacjk them. Stupid tourist. Why are they out here in the first place. I should report them. Eshalla sighed. She looked the two over. Neither looked dangerous. " Jayeson, don't hurt them. I'm leaving. You to shouldnt be up here without a guard anyway." She Gave Jayeson a nod before jumping off the wall. The lazy form of a black hawk rose in the sky, going back into the city.
Jayeson watched Eshalla go. She was right. " Well, you two are obviosly either stupid, or not from around here. Here's a suggestion. Go home. I'm not in the mood to babysit a couple of idiots and I really have to go back out to the Wastes." He looked around. He knew Zara would find him sooner or later, and he hoped he would be on home turf when that happened. He also didnt want Zane to Find him. That would be unpleasant.

Octavia raised an eyebrow. The man looked an awful like someone she knew. She dug into her bag as he rambled on a bunch of bullshit. She pulled out the picture her employer gave her earlier that day. It was that elf. She bit her lip and pulled her sword out as she dropped the picture back into the bag.
"OK, let's get this straight: i don't care who you are, or why your here." She protested. "I just need to kill you to get paid so let's get this over with."

Reubens shrugged and switched on his camera. Nothing to do with the actual war, fair enough, but it's nice to have some snaps of whatever happens. He started to walk away, retreating to a safe distance being his forte (eight metres for a swordfight, a mile from a gunfight, he reckoned).
