Yvaine looked over the magical land of Tragonia as the sun started to rise above the horizon. Yvaine dark blue eyes started to close as her shine started to dimmer. She slept during the day. As she leaned back and started to fall asleep something came up on her neck and knocked her out of the sky. She fell down in a fiery mess as she screamed for help. The fire didn't burn her, it carried her to the Earth as a shooting star. She suddenly felt her body take form as a human. She could move her body and she could see the fire around her. She moved her arms frantically as she landed on the roof of the Avalon Isle Palace.
The sun was glaring in her new eyes and she tried to get up but she was too tired and weary from the long journey. She fell asleep.
Yvaine awoke hours later when the moon was high above the sky. She gasped and sat up. She had the satin, baby blue dress on. This is what all stars are born with. She had no shoes and she was very warm. She touched her head and found she had long, straight, blonde hair that almost looked like bright white. She gasp and saw she had hands. She couldn't believe this was real. She felt something cold around her neck. She looked down and saw the necklace. When the necklace find a star they want to come to Earth, this necklace will knock them out of the sky. It had a beautiful gold chain around it with a turquoise gem, with a gold crust around the gem. It was beautiful. Yvaine started to glow very brightly.
Yvaine could hear the thoughts of her sister stars telling her to be safe and watch out for silver knifes. The only enemy of stars. Yvaine nodded and smiled. She had trouble standing up. She fell on her back the first time she tried to use her legs. She soon got the hang of it and started to walk down the stairs of the palace. Vines and flowers grew around them. She finally made it to the walk way of concrete that led to the Haven Plains. She had to find her way to the Outlander's City. It was the only closet city to the territories.

Tara had broken into her normal means of transport, the slouch. In the water, she was one of the most beautiful creatures on the planet (a hundred nature correspondents can't be wrong), but on land she'd never really got the hang of walking in any other way than stooped over and stepping very slowly but purposefully. She was still barefoot, but hey, who'd notice? She glanced around herself, and saw a woman up ahead. She was beautiful, but in an awfully generic way. Y'know, blonde, thin etc. "Hello," Tara called up ahead.

Yvaine stumbled around the concrete walkway as she almost fell, but caught herself on the wall. She looked up as she heard voice call out. Yvaine looked up and saw another woman a few feet away from her. "Oh, hello," She cooed as she straightened up and began to walk steadily again. She wasn't used to walking and it was dark. It was hard for her to see. But the shine around her body and the moonlight helped her make her way over to the woman.
"MY name is Yvaine." She told her as she looked at the woman's face. Yvaine bit her lip and knew what she was about to ask. "Do you know which direction the Outlander's City is?" She asked.

Tara smiled. "Tara McEnzie," She offered "And I think it's..." Tara wasn't brilliant at directions, but hey, educated guesses made the world go round. "...That way," She finished, pointing in what may have been the right direction. At any rate, there wasn't a road that way.

"Thank you, Tara." She nodded at the woman. Yvaine turned and started to walk slowly the way Tara had pointed. She wanted to be careful. She had watched many of her sister's take on human form, but she never thought she would. It was harder to learn to walk then she Had thought.
Yvaine looked down as the walkway stopped and turned into a thick forest. Yvaine tried to take a step down to the ground as her foot lost balance and she fell down the hill. She Had never felt physical pain in her life before and this was sher first time. She thundered down the side of the hill, adding in groans and moans from the pain, and landed with a thud against a tree. She tried to get up but her ankle hurt. She thought it was known as broken.

Tara didn't see most of the fall, but she saw Yvaine suddenly dissappear over the edge. "Aw shit, man," She murmured. She wasn't a lot more dextrous than Yvaine would have been, but nonetheless Tara managed to break into a kind of controlled fall, half-running down the hill. She used the tree Yvaine had collided with to stop herself rather suddenly, and wedged between it and the hill's slope. "How can I help?" Tara asked, seeing no point in wasting time.

Yvaine pulled herself up on her arms and reached out her right hand to Tara. "You could start by helping me up." Yvaine just wanted to get out of here. Her shine was starting to dimmer. She already missed her home and friends. She as confused and frustrated she couldn't get this damn walking thing handled. And she had this weird feeling in her stomach she had never had before. She was so confused and just wanted to get to the Outlander's City. She could feel her ankle was broken and she knew she would have to limp now which would make everything a whole lot harder.

"Sure," Tara hauled Yvaine up and held her up, arm round her shoulder. Damn, She thought, this is going to make getting down a bitch. Ee well, grin and bear it. She slipped out from the tree and, using her free hand, tried to navigate a way down, sliding from one tree to the next. "Hey, if we get to the bottom," Tara said nonchalantly "You haven't got a pair of shoes I could borrow?"

"I don't have any shoes myself, I'm afraid." She told Tara. When Stars fall out of the sky, all they have is their dress and their necklace.
She pushed away from Tara and started to limp her own way down. "Do you even know what I am?" She said hopping onto a rock and maneuvering her weight so she could sit down and examine her ankle. "You're obviously a Selkie." She shrugged. She lifted up her dress and swung her broken ankle over to look at it. It had a pretty bad bruise on it and it stung when Yvaine touched it. She looked back at Tara and gave a questioning look, wondering if she was going to answer her question.

Tara frowned, a little put out. "Is it really that obvious?" She asked, looking Yvaine in the eyes "How can you tell?" She grimaced at her bruise. And shit, no shoes? Sod it, she'd have to find some soon. Her feet were killing her.

"No, it's really not that obvious." Yvaine assured her. "I've seen other Selkies in my 1473 years, and they look exactly like you. So I just quickly assumed you were a Selkie. Turns out, I was right." Yvaine put her foot back to the ground and hopped over to a tree and leaned against it.
"But you haven't answered my question." Yvaine said. She wanted to know if she was obvious to people. She was always afraid of Star Catchers. People who had all silver weapons to cut out a Star's heart while they were still alive. The only way to kill a star. And she wasn't sure if she could trust Tara or not. What is she was a Star Catcher?

"Oh, sorry," Said Tara, leaning against the tree and thoroughly glad to have Yvaine's weight off her. She looked at her thoughtfully, cupping her chin in one hand. "At a guess, I'd have to say I haven't the foggiest damn clue what you are," To be honest she just looked like anyone else, provided anyone else was somewhat oddly dressed.

Yvaine sighed relief. "Thank the Stars." She muttered. "I'm a Star." She said looking back at Tara. "A real star, you know, those little twinkly things up in the sky at night." Yvaine leaned back and sighed. "Not anymore though. I'm known as a Fallen Star now. I'm even in human form." She said, putting up her hands. She sighed of depression. "Until this little damn necklace came and knocked me right out of the sky."

Tara looked comically puzzled. "No-o, I'm fairly sure stars are massive balls of burning gas absolutely millions of miles away," She gave Yvaine an odd look "And, a necklace?" Alright, so she was speaking as a seal in human form with a mysterious penchant for folk music, but this was weird, even by her standards.

Yvaine rolled her eyes. She was actually kind of offended. "Stars are not balls of gas." Yvaine hissed. She looked back down the hill and started to limp to the next tree. She grabbed hold of the branch and slouched against the trunk. "But we do live millions of miles away. That is true." Yvaine smoothed her hair. She hated to explain this. She couldn't believe this Selkie didn't' know Stars were actually girls.
"Stars are girls. We all look 20. We just don't take human form until we are changing as a shooting star." Yvaine shrugged. "And now I'm stuck here." Unless I get my hands on a Babylon Candle..., Yvaine thought.

Tara raised an eyebrow, completely confused. She folded her arms and shifted so her gun wasn't crushed against the tree. "Can I just ask one thing," Tara said, looking for some kind of consolation "How?" If all else fails, persistent questioning will help.

"How what?" Yvaine asked, defensively. She was actually quiet mad at the moment and just wanted to get out of this place. It was beautiful and calming, but she wanted something to calm her stomach., Maybe a doctor could help here. Then she though, how is a doctor gonna know how to treat a Star? "I'm a Star...there's nothing else to it."

"Well, yeah, but it...It's...You're," Tara stopped. After all, if someone had tried to convince her that Selkies were impossible, she'd probably go spare. "Sod it, we can talk this over later," She said, rubbing her eyes with her hands "Let's just get to the bottom of the hill, eh?"

"Yes, I agree." Yvaine said as she limped her way down the hill and landed in a bed of flowers. She looked back at Tara. "So you never really knew Stars were people?" She asked. It actually amazed her quite a bit. She thought everyone knew that Stars were people. I guess they don't...Yvaine thought, actually very disappointed. Either way, she had to get to that City. It was beautiful from the sky. She couldn't wait to see it from her own eyes.

"No, not really," Said Tara, hauling Yvaine out of the flowerbeds "Never really gave them a lot of thought, to be honest," Tactful, maybe not, but honesty was kindness. Well, to a point. "So why go to Outlander City?"
